My Thoughts on Harry Potter

In this post I will be discussing a very well-known book and movie series, Harry Potter. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published in 1997 by J.K Rowling. The story is about a young boy who loses his parents to a dark, evil wizard called Voldemort. This boy is, you guessed it, Harry Potter. On his 11th birthday he finds out that he is actually a wizard and is sent to a school of magic called Hogwarts. In Hogwarts, Harry makes makes many good friends, and plenty of enemies too. He goes on many daring adventures throughout the series, including fighting a dragon, saving a hippogiff, and facing down the dark lord  Voldemort himself.

I have many thoughts about this book. On the first hand, I love it. I love the fantastical elements, such as the magic and mythical creatures and on the other hand, I don’t like it. Its not that I dislike the books, its just that I don’t think the movies portayed the books very well. Some character designs from the book were scrapped for new designs, unique to the movies. This happens quite often in movies based on books. Some elements of a book are simply to outrageous for a movie to portray, but the designs from Harry Potter were not even that intricute!

In summary, I think Harry Potter was an overall great series with great character development and a gripping plot. If you are interested in reading the books, our school library has the complete series. If you would like to see the movies, while I would not reccomend watching them, they can often be found on Amazon Prime Movies. This is Lulu, signing out.

  1. Hi Lulu,
I confess that I look forward to your book reviews to discover your unique take on a novel and its movie counterpart.
The Harry Potter movies are some of my favorites even though they are not completely faithful to the books. The plot in each is complicated and filled with a hearty experiences for readers and viewers. I do agree that the books have a richer experience.
    What’s next for a review?
    Happy blogging,
    Mrs. D
